Airlines generally suck especially if you're tall. I think I'll avoid Northwest, clearly they don't give a shit if you get your knee busted. It's very important for short little fucks to recline. And Delta I can tell you doesn't care if you complain...after have a bruise from one of their seats that lasted three weeks they didn't even apologize. Delta for the record has the least legroom on any plane so far. Also the row behind the emergency exit has the least room on any plane especially Alaska.
It amazes me that they seem to think you're weird when you check in to ask for a row with more legroom. I think people generally agree that seats are too narrow but when you can't fit in the seat and put your legs in the aisle (which I've physically had to do) the flight attendants get quite hostile. Just where exactly am I supposed to put them? It's not like I have additional joints I can just fold up, and my legs don't come off. I understand they need to push the cart down the aisle so they can give you a thimbleful of coke and a single peanut sealed in a wrapper but I still can't fit.
More protein in the diet means people get taller every year as food is increasingly more availible. But plane seats get smaller.

I'm 6'5" and I've never had problems with my knees getting hit. The worst has been a little awkwardness getting out of the seat when the person in front is reclined. I fly mostly Southwest, Alaska and Delta. The guy in the article must have a 38" inseam... Granted I can't store anything other than my feet under the seat in front of me. The only time I've ever had to put my legs in the aisle was on a 15 hour flight to Korea. I've never had problems asking for more legroom, but as a guy that's probably not too unusual.

I have more of a complaint with people that board before me and take up all of the overhead space with their four carry-on items. You never see the airline employees force anyone to check that fourth carry-on.

My inseam is 36 inches...and it sucks...sometimes they really just don't fit-that was the time I got stuck behind the emergency exit row so it was 6 inches smaller than the other seats. I couldn't get my feet under the seat in front of me. Thank god there was no seat reclining issues on that flight!
The extra bags annoy me to. And it takes them forever to get on the plane then too! I particularly love the small round women who can't reach the overhead and have to stand on the seat to pack all their crap in. (and it's always shopping bags too)
